JOB DESCRIPTION:  STAFF ACCOUNTANT (Part-Time Position)

SUMMARY

Under basic supervision, maintains the integrity of the financial accounting system for the organization; performs a wide range of accounting, technical review and general ledger functions; assists with audits and financial reporting in compliance with grant agreements, Federal award and cost principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSONSIBILITIES

  • Accounts Payable/Receivable
  • Preparation of monthly and annual financial statements
  • Process payroll
  • Tax deposits
  • Filing quarterly reports
  • Work with outside accounting firm to create tax returns, audit preparation and related reports to ensure compliance with all nonprofit requirements
  • Preparation and monitoring of annual budget
  • Prepares financial reporting and reimbursement requests to National Park Service
  • Monitors grants and projects financials and reporting
  • Tracking and monitoring in-kind match
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and QuickBooks products
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Able to maintain confidentiality around work related information
  • Willingness to participate in organizational meetings and efforts toward SdCNHA’s mission and strategies
  • Able to meet tight deadlines
  • Work efficiently with minimum supervision
