The Sangre de Cristo National Heritage Area (SdCNHA) Board of
Directors announces the opportunity for local area residents to
become engaged with the work of the Heritage Area. The Board is
looking to fill two openings for residents of Alamosa, Conejos, and
Costilla counties. These positions are at-large and do not need be
associated with agencies or government entities. Volunteers in
these positions represent the voice of citizens and constituents
who support local heritage preservation efforts and the community
oriented mission of the Heritage Area and who are willing to commit
to one meeting (last Wednesday of the month) per month and
participation on a sub-committee. Local projects have included
historic building rehabilitation, interpretation of historic and
scenic/recreational sites, educational programming and cultural
events, and documentation of culturally significant components of
local traditional ways of life. These efforts seek to contribute to
community building or heritage tourism, promote a spirit of pride
and create a legacy in the Colorado counties of Alamosa, Conejos
and Costilla.
