An approved project that SdCNHA would like to see completed and involved in decision making, responsibilities and completion. A signature project will be considered during the grant application process, SdCNHA approaches an organization for assistance or if SdCNHA is approached by another organization. A memorandum of agreement will be negotiated, completed and signed by both parties. All parties are fully responsible to see the project will be completed with monitoring by SdCNHA.
Through collaboration with partners, SdCNHA was able to install and update panels sharing our local history along the Los Caminos Antiquos Scenic and Historic Byway. These informational panels are located along Cumbres Pass(Hwy 17), in Antonito, Fort Garland, San Luis, the Monte Vista Wildlife Refuge which are all gateways into the heritage area. Partners on this Signature Project include: Rio Grande National Forest, Colorado HIstorical Society, National Park Service, Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife, San Luis Valley Resource Area, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highways Administration, The Nature Conservancy, SLV Development Resource Group, SLV Youth Conservation Corps, Costilla County Road and Bridge.
